About Danielle
On the magical path, anything is possible. Especially your dreams.
Danielle Soucy Mills grew up in Massachusetts in a small city by the sea. From an early age, she loved to write story after story, and around 5th grade, she penned her first 142-page novel in a blue binder at her Montessori school. As she went to work on more stories, she eventually realized she did not know enough about life yet to write a “real” book.
Her passion for gymnastics began when she was young as well. By sixteen, she was competing in regional and national competitions and began coaching young gymnasts.
Around this time, she also learned of her connection to the poet Emily Dickinson, who was woven into her ancestry through her maternal grandmother. Deep within, she felt this connection was important, especially since she already knew that she, too, was a writer.
Despite her mother’s push to become a teacher or physical therapist, Danielle chose to follow her passion and her intuition—after all, she’d always had a strange obsession with destiny and the idea that nothing in life is random, not even the little pieces.
After being rejected from the gymnastics team at the University of Rhode Island, she transferred to Rhode Island College to study English with a focus on creative writing and to compete in Division III Collegiate Gymnastics. There she won the English Faculty Creative Writing Award for a collection of short stories and became an NCGA Academic All-American.
After a series of powerful synchronistic events, she moved across the country to earn her Master of Fine Arts at Chapman University in Orange, California.
Danielle is now the author of four books, the creator of the I FLIP Over Books Collection, founder of the Mastermind/Body/Spirit, and co-host for the Little Podcast of Signs & Synchronicities.
Her work has appeared in Us Weekly Magazine, People.com, Chicken Soup for the Soul, and San Diego Poetry Annual.
She currently lives in San Diego with her husband and two daughters and enjoys spending time in the gym, at her computer writing, or being outside, basking in the beauty of nature–whether it be hiking, biking, meditating, throwing frisbee, or playing on the beach.
